Frequently Asked Questions about Chiropractic Care at Wilson County Chiropractic

What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the body’s main structures – the skeleton, the muscles, and the nerves – and the patient’s health. Chiropractors believe that health can be improved and preserved by making adjustments to these structures, particularly to the spinal column. They do not prescribe drugs or perform surgical procedures, although they do refer patients for these services if they are medically indicated. – Association of Chiropractic Colleges

What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is when a spinal bone becomes misaligned compared to the bones located above it and below it.  Subluxations can lead to neurological conditions due to the pressure of the adjacent nerves.  Subluxations over time will lead to adverse effects on the discs, bones, and surrounding tissues.

What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment, also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, is a common therapeutic treatment for lower back pain.

A chiropractic adjustment refers to a chiropractor applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally.

The objective of this chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, with the goals of increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritability, and improving function.

Does it hurt to get adjusted?

No. Chiropractic adjustments feel great. Dr. Goolsby is confident that once you begin receiving your adjustments, you will begin to look forward to them. When you allow the vertebrae in your spine to return to their proper position, you will notice much less stress, tension, and pain in that area and the body can return to an ideal state for healing.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes. Statistics prove that chiropractic care is one of the safest types of healthcare in the world.

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints.

Why do my children need chiropractic care?

Children with a properly aligned spine and neck tend to have better posture and be in better overall health. Chiropractic not only helps align the spine and neck but also helps to clear the neural pathways.

Chiropractic care also reduces ear infections, bed wetting, asthma, and allergies. It improves a child’s immune system and digestive health and limits colic and constipation. Regular chiropractic care also encourages nerve and brain development (neuroplasticity).

Do you accept insurance?

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare.
We can not list the charges for insurance because every policy is different.
